Behind the Chocolate: How Sweet Jubilee is Made

Chocolate has always had a way of spreading joy. At Sweet Jubilee, that joy is the whole point. If you’ve ever wondered what goes into making each piece, the answer is a mix of craft, creativity, and community.

From Small Beginnings to Something Sweeter

Sweet Jubilee didn’t appear overnight. After the success of a small, local specialty sweets company, Brittle Bark®, Henry Fry decided to dream a little bigger. The brand had already won hearts with its crunchy bark, but there was room to grow, and Henry saw a need to create more local jobs in the small city of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Thus, Sweet Jubilee was born!

The mission was simple: make confections that look just as good as they taste, and do it in a way that supports people as much as it delights customers. Fast forward to today, and the company has gone from a hometown favorite to a name you can spot in gourmet shops and grocery stores across the country.

Where Chocolate Meets Art

Walk onto the Sweet Jubilee production floor and you might expect to see machines whirring on autopilot. Instead, you’ll find real people in smocks working with specialty culinary machines and their hands, treating the confections like it’s their canvas.

The process begins with getting the fresh and high-quality ingredients ready. Next comes tempering, the slow heating and cooling that gives chocolate its shine. From there, the possibilities are endless: hand decorated details, chocolate enrobing, chocolate stringing, and so much more. It’s a careful rhythm — enrobe, cool, decorate, repeat — and while it requires precision, it never feels rushed. The imperfections, the small differences in a drizzle or a swirl, are a part of the beauty.

The Hands Behind the Magic

Sweet Jubilee isn’t powered by machines. It’s powered by people. More than 20 employees are involved in the process, and each plays a part in making sure the confections look and taste the way they should. Some are hand-piping peanut butter, others are carefully packaging finished boxes, and a few are adding that final detail that turns a simple treat into something you can’t stop staring at before you take a bite.

There’s laughter in the room, a little music in the background, and the kind of focus that comes from people who care about what they’re making. It’s this energy — equal parts pride and teamwork — that makes the confections feel alive!

What Makes Sweet Jubilee Different

Plenty of companies make chocolate products, but Sweet Jubilee has always had its own personality. The brand has built a lineup of more than 100 products, many of them tied to seasons and celebrations.

But the real difference is in the details. Our goodies are still created by real people with love. All of our treats are made in small batches with premium ingredients and artisanal touches. We have stayed true to the Brittle Bark® process and recipes while expanding into the world of chocolate-covered pretzels, caramels, animal crackers, popular cookies, and so much more!

These aren’t just any chocolate products stamped out by a machine. They’re designed, decorated, and packaged by hand. The result is chocolate that feels like a gift, whether you’re buying it for someone else or treating yourself.
